The Grantham Canal, gently winds its way through beautiful countryside starting in Grantham and eventually after 33 miles joining the Trent. With it's abundance of wildlife to watch and photograph, it is a little paradise.

Currently a 'remaindered' waterway, the Grantham canal winds its way for 33 miles through 3 counties - from the town of Grantham, passing through the heart of the Vale of Belvoir, to the River Trent near Nottingham. The canal is an asset of great historical, ecological and amenity value with plenty to attract the rambler, the naturalist and the angler. Full restoration will preserve these amenities and will open the canal once more to narrow and broad craft.
| This photograph was taken on the small stretch between Plunger and Barkstone, during late November. It easily depicts the beauty and tranquility of the Vale of Belvoir. | |
| During November 2005 we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of holly bushes laden with red berries. Hedge rows were also abundant with wild fruits, birds and insects. An 'Old Fashioned' canal with all the wildlife still in residence, the Grantham Canal depicts an age gone by. | |
