Leicestershire has some really nice places to walk and some hidden gems, Country parks and wild rugged corners. Well worth a day trip you could start with Bradgate Country Park and the Beacon Hill Country Park. Swithland Woods, Coats Wood, Out Woods and Blue Bell Woods are all close by.
